PeeWee Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be an AMA Member?
Yes. AMA membership is required because they are the insurance carrier for all NETRA Events. Unfortunately the cost is $39 and they do not offer Family/Jr memberships. The good news is that it covers an entire year and you are eligible for MX events and other series (ECEA, WNYOA etc)

Do I have to be a NETRA Member?
For 2006 NETRA membership will be required. Cost is $25 for Jr. Members or $25 for any individual event or a full family membership for $65.

How much does it cost to enter?
Actual event fees are limited to $20 per rider, there may also be parking donations at certain events

How hard is it, can my 5 yr old ride?
Courses are set up to be as easy as possible with the terrain available. The concept is that any 50cc bike (XR, PW, JR) can make it around the track if the child has mastered the basics. Some level of off-road (not front yard) skill is required but there will be no dangerous or difficult obstacles.

What equipment is required?
At a minimum a rider must have a full face motorcycle helmet (no BMX) , goggles, gloves, long sleave shirt, and high cut leather boots. Riding boots, shin pads and a chest protector are highly recommended but not required.

What time do they start?
This is up to the club putting on each event and you need to check the club's event flyer for details. However, the common practice will be to have the PeeWee's start after the Jr. Enduro is done at approximately 1:00. Sign up will start 2-3 hrs prior, the nervous Novice will follow the PeeWee's and Trophies will be after the Nervous Novice. Again, check the club's flyer or this site for details.

Will there still be Nervous Novice Rides?
This is entirely up to each club, please check the event flyer for details.

Can I ride with my child like the Nervous Novice rides?
No, no parents will be allowed to sweep ride for a variety of reasons. There will be course marshals on the track at all times and workers at any challenging spots on the track. You are welcome to ride the Nervous Novice with your child after the PeeWee's are done.

Who puts on these events?
New England Trail Rider Association (NETRA) is the governing body for these events. The PeeWee Scramble series is part of the Jr Enduro Series and is run as an additional class. Individual clubs are Sanctioned (approved) by NETRA to run these events under the NETRA guidelines but it is up to the individual club to put on the event.
